The Celtic Football Club is a Scottish football club based in the Parkhead area of Glasgow, which currently plays in the Scottish Premier League. Celtic are the champions of Scotland, having completed a hat-trick of titles on 22 May 2008, the final day of the 2007/08 season. Since the club's formation in 1888, Celtic have won the Scottish championship on 42 occasions and the Scottish Cup 34 times (a record), and won the European Cup in 1967. Celtic's home stadium is Celtic Park (commonly referred to as Parkhead), the largest football stadium in Scotland, with a capacity of 60,832. Together with their Glasgow rivals, Rangers, they form the Old Firm, one of the most famous and fierce rivalries in sport. The club's traditional playing colours are green and white hooped shirts with white shorts and white socks. In 1967, Celtic became the first British team to win the European Cup and are one of only two clubs ever to win the competition with a team composed entirely of players from the club's home country (along with Steaua Bucharest of Romania in 1986).All of the players, subsequently known as the Lisbon Lions, were born within a 30-mile radius of Celtic Park. Celtic won every competition that they entered that season: the Scottish League Championship, the Scottish Cup, the Scottish League Cup, the European Cup and the Glasgow Cup, to become the first, and so far only, team to win the Quadruple (As part of their Quintuple). Celtic also reached the 1970 European Cup Final, but were beaten by Feyenoord. In 2003 Celtic reached the UEFA Cup final, where they lost 3–2 to FC Porto. Approximately 80,000 Celtic supporters travelled to Seville for this game, the largest foreign travelling support in history at the time. Celtic fans also received awards from UEFA and FIFA for their behaviour throughout the tournament.Celtic have an estimated fan base of nine million, including one million in North America.

In a shock move last night Celtic FC axed gaffer Gordon Strachan, who led them to a sequence of three straight league wins and two ventures into the last 16 of the Champions League. Their interim manager is relatively unknown Antony Lee, who managed their Under-16's to victory for their own three league wins in a row. The Scottish Premier League Champions new boss will meet the players next week, Peter Lawell, Chief Executive for Celtic said, "Antony has proven himself to be a great motivator and can bring players to a new levels, although he is starting out with a 12 month contract it is with a view to a permenant deal." Lee will bring with him his assistant manager and some of the coaching staff from his under 16's. While Mr. Lee was unavailable for comments, his right-hand man Ze Mario Crispim said " We were not expecting this at all but of course it is a great honour to manage a club as prestigious and well-known as Celtic, we will certainly do all we can to bring more trophies to the club."

I couldn't believe it, I was still in a daze. I hadn't even know Gordon had been axed when I got the call to go to Peter Lawell's office. When he told me Gordon had been axed, that was a shock, he hadn't been doing too well recently of course, but I thought the board would have stuck with him, when he offered ME the job, I thought he was joking, I even said as much to him, I didn't even know the board knew who I was. Of course I accepted when I found out he was being serious, but I was nervous, under 16's football was one thing, but now there was real pressure on me, this could make or break my career. But my father had always told me, "A chance will come for you to make yourself someone, never turn it down, or even stop to consider it, " So I didn't.
After my acceptance I was told the board's expectation's for the year ahead, tomorrow I'd meet with the squad and the fan's spokesperson. I had a budget of £8 million and £75 000 free wages to win the league and gain relative success in the CHampions League.
Wait 'till my wife hears about this.
